Bible studies

There are 4 active bible studies groups here at CWC that you can be a part of at present. The purpose of these small groups is to encourage the study of God’s Word and apply it to our lives every day in every way possible. We know that people are able to learn best “in circles rather than in rows” as has been said so many times. When we have the ability to attend Sunday church service, we are delighted to see and say ‘hi’ to the many people who attend. Aside from possibly going to lunch afterwards with people with whom we already have a relationship, we rarely cultivate new acquaintances in such a way.

In the environment of a Bible Study, you not only learn from the Bible, but you meet new people. You pray for needs such as illness, tragedies, pains and sorrows. You also learn about each other’s situations as well as joys and happiness. You do a lot of sharing and laughing… You get to know someone on a totally different ‘plane’

The missions team

The Missions team at FBC was formed in January, 2021.  Kelly Bishop, Doug Knudson and Chris Hallenbeck currently serve on the team.  2021 was busy developing a responsible budget, identifying our eleven Missionary groups that we support monthly and setting up communication with them.  Also, during 2021, we hosted a Missions Festival on a Saturday afternoon in October, where we had eight organizations participate to give an opportunity for FBC to get to know who they are and what they do.  Additionally, on a Sunday in December, we had Jews for Jesus lead us through a Hanukkah celebration.

Now as we look at 2022, we have set a goal to be able to add and support one additional Missionary organization.  Of the eleven that receive monthly support from FBC, three are local to the Yucaipa-Calimesa area while eight are internationally based.  In addition to growing, there are several other opportunities  that we are planning and hope that you will part with us.

First, on Palm Sunday evening, we will be hosting a Model Seder meal commemorating the Passover.  Jews for Jesus will lead and facilitate our time together.  This will be a wonderful, enriching spiritual time!  In the early fall, there will be a trip to Mexico planned over a weekend to work at Door of Faith Orphanage and Siloe Medical Mission.  This opportunity is a multigenerational one, young and old are encouraged to come be a part  of this chance to serve.  Serving with us, The Sowers group is busy making blankets!  Baby blankets that will be taken to Siloe to given to new moms that have babies delivered there and full size blankets will be given to each child living at the orphanage at Christmas. We once again will work to feature our Missions partners at a fair this fall and are inviting our partners to visit us and share upcoming projects or needs in our Sunday morning service.

Finally, we are working to put together a short-term mission trip to Antigua, Guatemala in June of 2023.  This will be a week-long trip full of challenges, hard work, and awesome opportunities to help others.  A planning meeting will be held in August.  We are excited about where God is leading you!

celebrate recovery

CR is a 12 step program for anyone with hurts, habits & hang-ups. We know everyone struggles with some of those. They're always at a church, and in many cities across the nation. We are so blessed to be able to see lives changed week to week. When the pain of life overcomes the peace & joy, time to come! Jesus will meet you in the middle of it, & we will provide a safe place for you to grow & learn about who you are. It is constantly a lifeline that saved many of us here at FBC. But it’s not just for alcohol & drugs, it’s for things like anger, overeating, grief, shame, dysfunction… & the list goes on. The foundation of the church is God, and the people who surrender their life to Him help grown the kingdom, and CR helps people who struggle every day and feel alone to come to Him and lay down their burdens. Come check it out!!

Senior ministries

The Senior Ministry here at CWC is a place to connect with other seniors and together we can build the Kingdom of God. On the first Wednesday of the month we have a monthly Senior Luncheon that’s always fun as we engage in different activities such as: listen to a guest speaker, give special honor, sing hymns or songs of praise, or ask trivia questions. Aside from having lunch together with whom we already have a relationship, we can cultivate new acquaintances as well. Whatever we do, we strive to uplift and encourage other seniors with prayer, scriptures, laughter, and support at all times.

We are in the process of planning some great events and outings in the near future and will keep you updated as they come available.

Mens ministRies

The Mens Ministry here at CWC is a vital part of what makes a church run smoothly. This ministry has been tasked with the important mission of showing men how to be leaders in their own spiritual lives, and leaders in their families. We have many options for men to fellowship together; such as our mens retreat pictured above, our monthly mens breakfast, or even bible studies dedicated to helping our men grow. We trust that the men of our church are making great improvement to God’s kingdom and we welcome you to see and join the journey they’re on!
